2010 Goals – NOT Resolutions

GOALS for BZ for the 2010 New Year!

This year I’m only making GOALS (not resolutions) for the upcoming new year. Every year I make the same resolution to lose x amount of weight – well this year is going to be different.

Lose & Maintain Weight Loss
Accomplish my goal of losing 50 lbs and maintain it throughout the year. I’ve setup another blog, Lose50, and I’m using it to make myself accountable for this weight loss. It’s been working so far. Read more about it on the blog.

End the Procrastination
I really need to get my ass into gear and start planning more. There’s some changes going on at work and I may be leaning towards more of a planning role rather than an executionary role. I’m really interested in seeing things working as I plan them out as well as learning how to schedule and forecast changes a year out.

Work-Life Balance
2009 has been a good year and I’ve managed to keep my WLB in check but it can be much better. The goal above really affects my WLB goal in that things end up piling up into a huge stack and I end up sitting in the office trying to cut that pile down on a huge deadline.

There….that’s it. Three goals that are by no means an easy feat…

I’ll keep the blog updated with my status on these goals on a monthly basis to keep myself in check as well.

Yum! Shake Shack

My other blog would be furious with me for posting this but who cares.

I think my subconscious found this link because it’s been craving burgers for a while now and I can’t for the life of me remember how I found this. Anyways there’s place in New York that has bomb ass burgers called Shake Shack and peeps be standing in line forever to get ‘em. I don’t know when I’ll be able to make it over to NYC anytime soon to get one BUT I found a site that actually reverse engineered the recipe to make one.

This will be one of the first things I do once I reach my goal weight – is to make this burger.

Check the link if you wanna make one at home for yourself right now!

Ugh all the nice things are in New York. Need to seriously make a trip out there.

Mayweather vs. Pacquiao – March 13th

It’s done, it’s set, the fight everyone has been waiting for. According to the following article – Manny and Mayweather have signed the contract, they will be knocking gloves on March 13th. The only unknown right now is where it’s going to be. There’s a real push to get the Cowboy’s huge new stadium as the location, but MGM is also in the race.

Let’s go to the Pro’s / Con’s between Dallas and Vegas for our annual boy trip.

PROS:
Dallas – We get to see the Dallas Stadium
Dallas – Beautiful affordable golf courses over there
Dallas – A change from the usual Vegas trip

Vegas – It will be super packed with hella Pinoy Pride
Vegas – We get to play “Eye of the Tiger” up and down the Vegas strip
Vegas – We already have a schedule/plan when we get there, no need to explore
Vegas – Bottle service was bomb the last time we went, we want to do it again
Vegas – Pinoy/Pinay :)

CONS:
Dallas – We have no clue what’s over there, we’ll be newbies in Texas
Dallas – We’ll have to probably pay more for the tickets in the stadium than if we were to watch in Vegas
Dallas – We won’t have the glamour glitz of Vegas

Vegas – Bottle service is going to be really pricey
Vegas – Everything will be really pricey $$$

Breakup

Today is a very sad day for me; I broke up with her. Yes, I’ve known her for many years now and she’s always been very good to me. She’d instantly lift my sprirts whenever I see her. She’d always accompany me at all the parties I’d go to, she was there whenever I was Vegas, she came with me to Chicago and spent time with my family, and recently helped me out when I did my Best Man speech at my buddies wedding.

We rarely fought, but when we did – it would always end up being explosive and I would swear I’d never speak to her ever again. But whenever there was a gathering or party we’d always end up making up.

Last night we got into the worst fight we’ve ever had and it ended up being the final straw in our relationship. The night was going well, we were singing karaoke and having fun. Everything was going fine until she pushed it. We started to fight and I had to leave, I ended up all alone on the bathroom floor.

I’ll miss you my friend, maybe we can be friends in the future but right now I need to be alone.

Goodbye Henny.

Watch Envy

Watch Envy
While I’m not a real fan of collecting watches, I am a fan of standing out in a crowd and having folks asking me where I got my ish. I saw this little gem on Freshnessmag.com and it’s manufacturered by Nixon. It’s so cool it’s called “The Ceramic” 51-30. I don’t follow the timepiece scene too closely but it does look like this brand gets around. Mos Def and Milo from Heros rock this gear.

It even caters to the folks that wear their watches [errr timepieces] because it has a reversed screw crown at the 9 o’clock position rather than at the usual 3.

This lil guy isn’t cheap…it comes in at around $2,400 dollars.

Pacquiao vs. Mayweather

I saw this article today and was stoked.

The target date is May 1st, 2010, and if it’s made it will be the biggest fight possibly revenue-wise in the history of Boxing…

The fight will happen, obviously the only thing left on the table are the splits and where it’ll happen. For our sake, we really hope it happens in Vegas. Right now they’re throwing out places like New Orleans, New York, Texas, and Vegas right now.

UPDATE: The fight’s scheduled for March 13th, 2010
GO VEGAS!

YouTube + Muppets

This is my favorite Happy B Karaoke song of all time. I’m really loving the YouTube HD action.

Lose 50 is born!

After our recent trip to Vegas, I got hit in the head with the reality that I really need to lose the weight, AND keep the weight off. I’ve been able to lose weight but I’ve managed to pack them back on in a matter of 6 months and I’m sick and tired of going through that cycle.

There’s a lot of things I want to accomplish and many of those activites are limited by my physical health. I’m able to join a program that will help me achieve my goal of losing 50 lbs. Which brings me to my new and upcoming blog.

http://lose50.ondabside.com

It’s still in the beginning stages of being populated with content because I haven’t started the entire process yet but with the help and support of my family and friends I’ll be changing the domain from “lose 50″ to “lost50″ in no time.

Leaving Las Vegas

Leaving on a Jet Plane…
We all wake up early to get our pack on. After we were done we had to hit up our favorite spot before we left!

We headed off to Pinoy/Pinay for the last time during the weekend and we weren’t the only ones…

After waiting almost 1/2 an hour to order and grab our food we got our grub on. Tor and I even got the Halo-Halo.

Errands…
Tor had to get some Red Ribbon goodness for his parents so we went over and grabbed the goods. So here’s a funny little story, I go to the bathroom at the mini-mall that had Red Ribbon and saw an older Filipino in there. I started to wash my hands and he started talking to me in Tagalog [or so I thought it was]. I had no idea what he was saying so all I could come back with was “oh oh, and laugh”. The nice smiling lolo kept talking to me and I still had no clue was he was saying – this went on for almost 5 minutes. Hahah

We rolled over to the Outlet malls to get some shopping in before we left. Not sure if anyone bought anything, but I grabbed a couple presents. Was the easiest sale the guy over at the kiosk probably ever made.

We head on over to the rental car place to dropped off the car and head to the airport.

Trip over……we’ll be back for the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight!!!

Vegas – Third Day Recap [Fight Night]

Recovery
Last night really took a toll on us. I woke up hella early, but the homies were still passed out. Most of them had their leftovers but my chunky ass killed my meal the night before. So I ended up snacking on our Walmart supplies until everyone started to get hungry.

After everyone got ready we went to our trusty Filipino eatery “Pinoy/Pinay” to get our pre-fight grub on. We got to see “he’s paying” today! So a little backstory on our favorite guy; the last time we were in Vegas we were here for the Pacquiao/Hatton fight. Whenever we came to eat, someone would be designated to pay for the entire group. Our guy would always try to get us to get more food when we got to the register, “You want halo-halo, You want drinks? Hiss paying”. He actually remembered us from the last fight!!!

After filling up we rolled back to the hotel to get ready for the fight. Wayne gave me the honor of donning the Pinoy Flag for the night while he rocked the Pinoy Flag Jacket. After taking a quick shower – we rolled over to Mandalay Bay.

Mandalay Bay – Official HQ of Manny Pacquiao
We get to the stadium and started to get our hype on. We rolled in and ended up posting up across from where we sat at the Pacquiao/Hatton fight.

Pre-fights were so boring I literally fell asleep for a few rounds. I ended up playing on FB for a while and finally then the main event.

Main Event

It was finally here, the main event. Nuff said – the fight was awesome. Cotto was a good fighter, he actually fought well for the first few rounds but Pac-Man ate his ass up the rest of the fight. The four of us all lost our voice during the fight, we [I] was bouncing around with flag all the way out of Mandalay.

Back to the Hotel
After our high from Pacquiao’s win started to wear off we needed something to do for the rest of the night. We go back and forth on where we should go or if we should go out. We end up heading over to Tao Beach. We were able to get in hella quick because we were “hotel guests”. Funny thing was no one even checked if we had hotel cards so if any of you want to get into Tao quicker just say you’re a guest :)

The club was way too packed, people were everywhere. The only way to really roll in Vegas is bottle service, all we did there was meet up with a Bachelorette party for a few minutes and pretty much left to go eat at Drai’s [$4.99 steak baby!]. We end the night after filling up on some cheap delicious steak and all took a cab home; not bad considering we paid for only 1 cab ride the entire weekend.
