What Recession: New Toys for bz
I saw this article on msnbc and it’s actually spot on. Over the last few weeks Myra and I were buying little things here and there to make us feel better. Be it something to reward us or to comfort us because we were both home-bound due to our never-ending sickness.
It really sucks to look at your 401K, something you’ve been contributing a portion of your paycheck to every month to pretty much disappear in just a matter of a few weeks. I looked at my YTD of my 401K and saw a dismal -26%, yup that’s a negative 26%. I might even listen to crazy Kramer and take all my stocks out since most of my co-workers are experiencing a disappointing drop of almost 50% of their portfolio.
It’s no wonder why some people (like us) are buying little things to tide us through these messed up times.
So now onto my new little toys……
Burton Mission Bindings 2007:
Little story with these ones. I was researching how much new bindings would be and I saw these bindings going for around $99-$125 online. But then I found a posting on the Dallas craigslist website for these ones going for 80 bucks. Not bad. So after emails back and forth with the seller we settled on $100 bucks inc. shipping.
I get my package and at first glance the bindings look new. They’ve got padding where I’ve never had padding before so I was excited. Then I realized that the dood never included the hardware kit. Basically I had no way to attach these bindings to my board because they weren’t included in the box. I looked all through the box thinking they might have fallen out when I was looking at the bindings but nope, nothing.
I send the dood an email and he basically gave me the, “I don’t know, they where all together when I sent it.” Shit. So I told him I have no way to attach these to my board and he was surprisingly helpful in helping get me what I needed. He sends me an email a day later saying he found the kit and will send it tomorrow.
Cool. Now I just need to bite on the board I want and I’ll be all set for the 2008 season.
Body Fat Tester:
The whole time I was sitting at home the past two weeks babysitting my cold, I was planning my comeback plan to the gym as well as my adhering to a diet plan. In the past, the only time I actually made progress was when I logged all my activities (both diet and workout).
I already have an electronic body fat tester by Omron but it’s limited to giving only the body fat. The tool I ordered will actually measure my body fat as well as give me a measurement of three different locations(Upper area, Mid-section, and Lower). I can use these measurements to gauge my progress in these three areas.
When my ass gets better, I’ll be using this tool to get me back on track to losing weight.
btw. I opened up the Body Fat package and it said I’m fat. dammit.
