Why I keep a blog…

So a few people asked me why I keep a blog. I thought to myself and there’s actually a few good reasons on why I started one….

Diet, Diet, Diet
This is by far the main factor on why I started this blog. I’m in front of a damn computer 20 billion hours a day so there’s no reason I can’t log my meals. This also keeps me in check with what I’m eating and the times I eat (which I still need to work on).

Workouts
Not only do I want to log my diet, I want to log my progress working out. At the gym I bring along my ratty ass notebook I “borrowed” from Captaris when I was working there and jot down what exercises I did and the weight I used. I haven’t been very religious in entering in my data to the blog though so that’s another thing I need to work on. One year from now I want to be able to look back and see my progress to keep me motivated.

Helping out others
So I’m not trying to be a Tony Little or Richard Simmons or anything but I’m just an average IT guy and I want to be able to show that it’s not too hard to lose a gut. Granted, the first few weeks were shitty but hell so are alot of things when you start out anything. For example, I want my cousin Marc to see how the diet and workout are actually working for me so he’ll get into the groove and get his ass on a treadmill. I’m sure my relatives are giving him hell right now because my Mom leaked the news that I started to lose some weight.

Learning
Being an IT guy I like to get my hands into everything because I can’t stand it when someone knows more than me. After hearing about WordPress and how I can embed my Gallery into it really got me excited. So I went ahead and installed it and worked out all the different bugs, edited a few themes, installed a few plugins, compiled a new program, edited some css code. It’s kinda cool to be able to work on something different when you get home.

Exposure
So Shane told me about Google Analytics the other week and that got me even more addicted to the site. I can see on a Geo Map who has looked at my piddly ass site. Kinda cool…plus their upgrading their site as well so more new graphs to come.
